Some notices when trekking to Hill tribe villages

• You’ll pass by the less-touristic hill tribe villages and get deep exploration about our unique and truly authentic local ethnic customs and culture.  

• En-route, some parts we will overnight in homestay, instead of hotel. By doing this, you’ll have chance to enjoy cozy dinner atmosphere and taste delicious local cuisines with the host family. It is not available seafood here, available all kinds of red meat and green vegetables. With vegetarian, please advise us when book the trip for smooth preparation.

• There are tons of opportunities to shoot breath-taking pictures of stunning passes, terraced paddy fields in countryside, the evergreen valley surrounded by range of mountains.

• Enjoy scenic boat trip on Ba Be lake and touch the wildlife here inside Ba Be national park

• No one will disturb you to buy anything and you are not considered as a major source of income.

• Shouldn’t give candy to the children or money for pictures. If possible, just gift them fruits, clothes, shoes/sandals or teach them English for volunteering activities.

PROGRAM

​

Day 1: Hanoi - Ha Giang 186 miles [B]

Let’s conquer North East mountainous area of Vietnam.

First part is to leave Hanoi to Ha Giang for 6 hour drive (nearly 300km), leave the bustling city behind and enjoy the scenic road trip from delta to the mountain range. This province is the most remote one in Vietnam offering the remarkable landscape, colorful and distinct hill tribes, and local fair markets. There are some stops en-route to free your legs.

After long drive, on arrival, check-in the hotel for taking shower and refresh your body.

In the afternoon, start gently walk to Tay ethnic village and admire the stunning valley surroundings. Overnight in the local house.

Day 2: Ha Giang city – Meo Vac 100 miles [B]

Continuing our conquer with an extraordinary 6-hour drive to Meo Vac. On the way, there are tons of opportunities to shot photos. Today you will take a fantastic 6-hour drive with lots of photos stops to the town of Meo Vac located along the Chinese border.
The bonus for this route is to pass by H’mong hill tribe groups with its colorful traditional custom. This hill tribe have migrated mainly from Southern China then moved into Northern Vietnam over the last 300 years.

Followed by lunch at the local restaurant.

After short break, enjoy a scenic light trek along the Nho Que River and call-in the home village of other hill tribes such as Tay and Nung hill tribe groups. Overnight in Meo Vac.
 

Day 3: Meo Vac – Dong Van 31 miles [B]

Start your new day by visiting remarkable Meo Vac  fair market which is gathered on every Sunday. It offers ethnic people the event to wear their most pretty dresses, meet others, sell and buy some daily necessary stuffs.

Afterward, our plan is to visit Dong Van town which is around 50km from Meo Vac. After short nearly 2 hour drive, we passes through Ma Pi Leng pass which is named as “Heaven’s Gate Pass” as when you stand at this position, you feel the sky touch your shoulder. Moreover, it is one of 3 best places for sightseeing yellow paddy fields. The road leads you through valley surrounded by walls of rock.
Arrive at Dong Van around lunchtime and check-in to your hotel. Then spend the remainder of this afternoon walking around the town to visit local villages and discover more on the local way of life in this rugged, rocky highland country. Return to your hotel early this evening. Overnight in Dong Van.
 

Day 4: Dong Van – Yen Minh 31 miles [B]

At 07:30 Breakfast at hotel

At 08:30 Followed by a scenic 1-hour drive to Lung Cu, in this place, we visit Lo Lo hill tribe village and observe their daily life as well as their own unmatch culture and customs. If lucky, we will get there on Friday for fair market held on every Friday.

Next up to visit Palace of the last H’Mong King which is reputed for its ancient architecture, you’ll then visit Pho Bang town where has fusion of Chinese and Vietnamese old architecture we can see in the houses at this place. The lively example for this influence is the “yin and yang” tile roofs which is the important element to make the local life more prosperous and healthy. These houses are made from sticky fine-grained earth.

At 12:00 Having lunch in Pho Bang before proceeding to Tam Son.

At 14:00 Arrive in Tam Son (Yen Minh). Check-in homestay.

After that, walking the surrounding villages before take your restful overnight stay in Tam Son (Yen Minh)
 

Day 5: Yen Minh – Hoang Su Phi: 121 miles [B]

In Vietnam, there are 3 best places for stunning terrace rice fields such as: Sapa, Hoang Su Phi and Mu Cang Chai. Let’s enrich your eyes with the remarkable scenery en-route: paddy fields, buffaloes, ethnic villagers in colorful costume and evergreen hills and mountains.

At 07:30 Enjoy breakfast.

At 08:30 We drive ahead to Hoang Su Phi area which is quite distinct with other places you have passed by.

At 12:00 Have lunch at local restaurant in Ha Giang then heading to Hoang Su Phi.

At 16:00 Check-in Pan Hou eco-lodge and enjoy your restful overnight stay in this lodge. Overnight in Hoang Su Phi.

Day 6: Hoang Su Phi – Ba Be: 184 miles (B, L, D)

At 07:00 Enjoy breakfast then heading straight to Ba Be after 6-hour drive. .

En-route, we will stop to free your leg at Lu local market, then start the scenic road trip to the mountainous region and admire beautiful dramatic natural landscape with ethnic villages located at the foot of the mountains. During road trip, we will have tons of opportunities to take photos and capture the moment …

At 13:00 Upon arrival, we check-in home-stay in Pac Ngoi - the home of the Tay ethnic people. At 14:00 We will spend a couple of hours to enjoy gentle bike (normal bike) along village lanes to explore the surroundings. Overnight at the local house which is basic and authentic homestay in this area.

Day 7: Ba Be lake boat trip – Hanoi : 142 miles (B)

After breakfast, we will bid farewell to the host.

At 08:00 Proceeding to a small wharf in Pac Ngoi to enjoy a cruise on Ba Be Lake & Nang River. Our boat will anchor for a short drop-in Dau Dang waterfall and then continue cruising upstream for a couple of hours along the Nang River till around 11:00. We will go ashore for lunch before heading back to Hanoi. Our trip ends around 18:00 in Hanoi.

Day 8: Hanoi - Halong Bay: 112 miles  (B/L/D)

At 07:45 - 08:15, our representative meet you up at hotel's lobby then heading out to Ha Long Bay which is declared as UNESCO World Natural Heritage.

In Ha Long, you will sail your cruise for an overnight stay amongst nearly 2,000 limestone island emerging in bay and pass many rock formations with various shapes and sizes. Then sample a delicious seafood lunch while sightseeing the panorama view of the bay.

At 12:00 Embark the boat, enjoy seafood lunch while cruising on the bay.

At 15:00 Visiting fishing farm, a refreshing swim and kayaking to explore other caves/lagoons. At 19:00, enjoy a spectacular dinner. Overnight on board.

Day 9: Halong bay - Hanoi: 112 miles  (B/L)

At 05:00 Start the day with calming Tai Chi, often accompanied by an amazing sunrise and the quiet breath-taking beauty of the bay’s landscape.

At 07:30 Light breakfast whilce the cruise is sailling and passing through many various shaped islands and islets.

At 09:00 Check-out the room, pay for the bill.

At 11:00 Having brunch on board. Back at the dock where you will be met and transferred to Hanoi by bus.

At 17:00 Arrive in Hanoi, check-in hotel. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 10: Hanoi free - Departure (B)

Breakfast at hotel.

Free for last minute shopping around or explore this capital city at your leisure time before heading to the airport for flight home. It is time to bid farewell to Vietnam - our beloved country.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

·         Rooms at hotels are available only from 1400 on arrival day till 1200 on departure date. A supplement will be added if early check-in or late check-out is desired.

·      About homestay, kindly notice that almost homestays are clean and in good conditions in big cities such as: Hanoi, Hoian and Ho Chi Minh city. However, in some remote area or in mountainous area, almost homestays belongs to the ethnic or hill tribe people, they are is very basic and we will share the same huge space with other groups. Each groups will be separated by the curtains, each person will be provided one mosquito net, pillow, blanket and mat.
